Step 1. Credentials Evaluation (CES Professional Report)

The CES Professional Report (Credentials Evaluation Service), provided by the Commission on Graduates of Foreign Nursing Schools (CGFNS), offers a detailed analysis of nursing credentials obtained outside the United States. This service is essential for foreign nurses seeking employment in the U.S., as the report evaluates and verifies all licenses, registrations, and diplomas to ensure they meet American standards.

Key Components of the CES Professional Report:

1. Credential Validation: Ensures the issuing authorities verify all nursing credentials, including education and licenses.

2. Comparability Assessment: Compares foreign nursing education and credentials against U.S. standards to determine equivalency.

3. Licensure Facilitation: This position assists in meeting the specific requirements of state boards of nursing for licensure and employment purposes.

Application Process:

1. Access Account: Log in to your existing account through CGFNS Connect.

2. Submit Application: Add the CES Professional application to your Shopping Cart online and pay the required fee ($485, payable by credit card).

    • The fee may change. Check out CGFNS to see the fee schedule.

Important Note for Maryland Endorsement Applicants

You do not need to include English proficiency scores when applying for the Maryland CES Professional Report for endorsement.

3. Submit School Documents: The graduate school must prepare Academic records and transcripts directly.

    • Some universities will complete and send the required documents directly to CGFNS upon request.

    • However, it’s often more accurate to collect the necessary documents personally, have them stamped by the university nursing department, and send them via EMS.

    • The required forms can be downloaded from the Higher Tertiary School section.

    • High school(Secondary School) documents can be uploaded directly through the CGFNS My Profile.

4. Submit License Verification Documents: The relevant authority responsible for nursing licensure in your country should prepare and send the license-related documents to CGFNS.
The specific process and required documents may vary by country.

    • Here is an example of South Korea
    • The form for license validation can be downloaded from the License Validation Form section.
    • Important: Each country has its own authority that manages nursing licensure. You should contact the relevant agency in your country to obtain the necessary requirements to prepare documents and follow their specific procedures for sending the verification to CGFNS.

5. Evaluation: CGFNS reviews and evaluates the submitted documents and prepares the report.

6. Report Access: The CES report is sent to the designated recipients(MBON in this case) and is available for viewing and printing through the online account.

Benefits:

    • Widely Accepted: Recognized by many state boards of nursing and healthcare employers in the U.S.

    • Facilitates Licensure: Helps in fulfilling the licensure requirements of various states.

    • Comprehensive Evaluation: Provides a thorough analysis of credentials, aiding in professional opportunities in the U.S.
